UPDATE: Salesmen have a saying, "Always ask for the order." That's exactly what Blake Cooper did to get the role of Chuck in The Maze Runner. The young actor did the digital equivalent of raising and waving his hand in the air. He tweeted the film's director Wes Ball to let make him aware that he wanted the role - and it worked! Cooper doesn't have too many credits, although plays a speech student in Parental Guidance. Still, he had the look and it turns out, the chops, so he got the job.

Other new hires are Anl Ameen ("Harry's Law") as Alby, Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans) as Teresa, Ki Hong Lee ("The Nine Lives of Chloe King") as Minho.

April 19, 2013 -  "Teen Wolf" star Dylan O'Brien will play Thomas in The Maze Runner, one of the boys who wakes up in the maze with his memory wiped clean. He'll next be seen in June's The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

March 14, 2013 -  Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who voices Ferb in "Phineas and Ferb" and was one of the kids in Nanny McPhee, will star in The Maze Runner alongside Will Poulter, who was the annoying Eustace in Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Wes Ball is now directing the story about boys who are abducted from their homes, their memories are erased, who are dropped into a community of other boys inside an enormous maze - which is some sort of mysterious experiment. Ball's experience is in the art department or visual effects for the featurettes made for promoting a film.

Dec. 2, 2010 - Catherine Hardwicke, the director of Twilight and the upcoming Red Riding Hood, may be making another teen heart-throbby movie. She's in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct the dystopian action thriller The Maze Runner. Based on the book which is intended to be the first of a trilogy, The Maze Runner tells the story of a teen boy who wakes up in "The Glade," a spray of land confined by stone walls inhabited by a community of teen boys. The boy remembers nothing about his previous life except for his name. Every 30 days, more new boys arrive so when one day a girl arrives, things change in "The Glade."

Hardwicke has shown a knack for discovering young talent who are soon to be on the cover of every tabloid (see Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch, Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Shiloh Fernandez, etc). The Maze Runner appears to be yet another casting bonanza for the young, hot and undiscovered.
