Meet Maddi Jane, a young singer from Chicago taking the viral world by storm with her popular YouTube covers. We caught up with the superstar-to-be and talked YouTube, future music, and embarrassing habits!
Fanlala: When did you first start singing? When was your first performance?
Maddi Jane: I’ve been singing ever since I can remember. My first performance was when I was 8 years old and I auditioned for a local theater group.
F: What made you decide to start a YouTube channel?
MJ: Well, I had been taking guitar lessons, and one day my guitar teacher said his nephew was in town and it would be cool for us to get together and record a song or two. And that’s kinda how it all started.
F: Describe your sound? Who are your music inspirations?
MJ: I’m still in process of figuring that out, because I enjoy many different styles. But I would probably say I’m a mix of Pop and R&B for now. I have a great deal of respect for a number of artists. It’s hard to name just one or two.
F: What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
MJ: This is so typical, but stay true to yourself. Don’t write or sing something just because other people tell you to do it. Write or sing it because you believe in the message or you connect with the music.
F: What can we expect from you in the future?
MJ: Currently I’m working on some original music that I’m super excited to show you guys.

F: What’s your most embarrassing habit?

MJ: I bite my nails and I’m kinda obsessed with keeping things clean, except for my room (I’m horrible at keeping that clean.)

F: Besides singing, what do you like to do?

MJ: I enjoy horseback riding, dance, piano, and eating chocolate.

F: If you could hangout with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and what would you do?

MJ: I'd like to meet my grandma who I was named after. She died a year before I was born.

F: What are 3 things you cannot live without?

MJ: My straightener, pasta, and friends/family.

F: How can fans keep up with what your doing?

MJ: They can subscribe to my YouTube channel, follow me on Twitter @maddijanmusic, or ‘like’ my Facebook page!

Maddi Jane is on her way to super stardom and we can’t wait to hear some original music from her soon! Be sure to check out her YouTube channel for new music/covers.
