Is Spider-Man Gaining a Sidekick?

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will soon be celebrating his 50th anniversary.  And it looks like he’ll be restarting the process in a major way.

In all the years Spidey has been tackling crimes and standing up to some of the baddest villains of the Marvel universe, he’s never had a sidekick.  Sure we’ve seen him team up with the likes of the Hulk, the X-Men, Iron Man, and others, but he’s never had a true blue sidekick.  In the comics, Peter Parker is all grown up and working at Horizon Labs.  Much like his high school years when he was bitten by a radioactive Spider, history will be repeating itself very soon at Horizon.

Andy Macguire, a teenager, is about to become a part of something he never expected.  Much like Peter, he’ll be gaining a set of abilities.  Feeling responsible, the older Peter Parker will take Andy under his wing and help him adjust to his new powers.  This exciting new storyline will kick off in "The Amazing Spider-Man #692" available August 22, 2012.

With ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ landing in theaters next week, we’ll have no problem with all the New York swinging we’ll be doing this summer!
