‘Modern Family’ star Sarah Hyland has just come out with a secret she’s been keeping for a while now - the young actress has recently had a kidney transplant!
Sarah has been struggling with Kidney Dysplasia since she was nine-years-old. The disease often required her character to be sitting often, and whenever scenes required her to walk anywhere, or up and down stairs, they could not be filmed more than once or twice. In the video below, Sarah describes using stairs as her “workout for the week.”
However, the ‘Modern Family’ actress has recently received a kidney transplant from her very own father. A true act of kindness that shows how tight the Hyland family is. Sarah’s boyfriend, Matt Prokup, has also been helping her take her medication and driving her to and from doctor’s appointments. She considers herself very lucky to have these people to help care for her. And with such a positive attitude through everything, she doesn’t ask “Why me?” Instead, she goes with “Why not me?”
