Mitchel Musso took over Radio Disney yesterday (May 15) to premiere his new song, "Hey." He was rocking his new haircut, which he says is about 5 or 6 inches shorter and dyed jet-black. Mitchel loves his new look and say it's "way easier to maintain."
Mitchel had AMAZING news! He is going to be playing some gigs with his older brother Mason's band, Metro Station at the House of Blues and some other locations through Live Nation. This will be the first time Mitchel has performed with Mason and he says it has been a dream of his since Mason picked up a guitar.
Then they got down to talking about the song, which everyone was dying to hear about. When asked what it was like filming and recording "Hey" Mitchel said it was awesome and especially a lot of fun recording in the booth, but the Heys were hard to do (they are really high notes!). We think he pulled it off! The video was shot on a New-York type street and he said that they "used props that gave it a real old school street vibe, like a fire hydrant, benches and a newsstand."
The song which Mitchel says is about relationships is the only one like it on the album. "I tried to keep my album as far away from slow ballads and relationship-y stuff like that. Hey is about a relationship, but we amped it up!"
Ernie D asked a little about Hannah Montana, Mitchel's hit show on the Disney Channel. He has played Oliver for almost 6 years and Ernie was wondering how Mitchel thought his character, Oliver has changed. "I really like where Oliver's character is going and I think if Oliver has changed in any way, it's been for music and all for the best. It's cool!" he replied.
Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for, Radio Disney played "Hey" off of Mitchel's debut album due out June 2. Mitchel thought it was crazy and amazing to hear it played. We hope to hear a million more times!
