Summer break means 3 things: sunshine, friends and hot new music! Lucky for you Fanlala got a sneak peek of Disney Channel’s new movie ‘Let It Shine,’ and it totally delivers some of the best new summer music! You’re not going to want to miss this movie and soundtrack.
Disney Channel’s newest DCOM follows Cyrus Debarge, played by Tyler James Williams, and his friend Kris McDuffy (Trevor Jackson) who find out that an old schoolmate, Roxie (Coco Jones), now a famous pop star, is holding a contest to find the next breakout rap superstar. Roxie goes wild for Cyrus’ song, but a mix up has her thinking Kris is the one behind the music, not Cyrus. Cyrus’ father (Courtney B. Vance) also doesn’t approve of his music and tries to stop him from following his passions. Cyrus’ and Kris’ friendship is then put to the test when they both fall for Roxie, making things even more complicated. The truth behind the real musical superstar will have to come out in order for Cyrus and Kris to remain best friends.
If you’re looking for a movie that’s all about the music, ‘Let It Shine’ is your jam. Right away, it kicks off with an explosive gospel performance, and throughout you’ll be blown away with tons of rap battles. We were especially impressed with Roxie’s surprise performance in the club where she turned out some awesome dance moves to her hit single “What I Said.”
