Kelly Blatz Chats Skyrunners with Fanlala

We all know and love Kelly Blatz from the hit Disney XD show Aaron Stone and now we get to see more of him in the new Disney XD movie "Skyrunners."  The story follows teenage brothers Tyler (Joey Pollari) and Nick Burns (Kelly Blatz) who commandeer a small UFO that crashes near their town. They soon learn the spacecraft is "alive" and there's an ominous alien plot to take over Earth.

There's also a super cool music video for Skyrunners called, "Low Day," which is performed by the pop alternative rock band Capra.  Capra's lead singer is Kelly Blatz!  The video offers sneak peeks from the science fiction adventure movie and is set against a backdrop that matches the dynamic action sequences of the movie.

Fanlala was lucky enough to catch up with Kelly and talk to him about Aaron Stone, Skyrunners and his new band Capra. Check it out!


Fanlala: How did you land the lead in "Aaron Stone"?
Kelly: There was a little fire alarm mishap on my end when I came in to read for the part, but thankfully enough, I still got it!

Fanlala: What episode of "Aaron Stone" was the most fun to film?
Kelly: I would have to say "Chuck and Charlie". It was fun for me because I got to play something totally different than normal on the show. I got to be the bad guy.

Fanlala: In both "Aaron Stone" and in "Skyrunners," you have a brother.  Do you have any siblings and what do they think of all your success?
Kelly: I do! I have a younger brother and an older sister. We are all very supportive for eachother in anything we do. They are very supportive of what I do, which I am thankful for every day.

Fanlala: Do you play video games in real life?  What's your favorite game?
Kelly: Yes I grew up playing video games! My brother and I used to have crazy video game duels at home. My favorite games are the sports games. NCAA, or Madden.

Fanlala: How does it feel to star in Disney XD's first original movie?
Kelly: It feels incredible! It was one thing to be in the first original series, but now the first original movie! It is a dream. I am very proud of it, we all are. It really is amazing what they did with this movie. I think it is going to suprise a lot of people.

Fanlala: In "Skyrunners," you discover a UFO that has landed in your town...do you believe in aliens?
Kelly: Hmmm. Always an interesting question. I do believe that we are not the only planet in the universe with living creatures. I am not sure if we will ever find out.

Fanlala: Your character in "Skyrunners," Nick Burns is crushing on a girl at school.  Do you remember your first crush?
Kelly: Of course, I could never forget her. To be honest, I forgot her name but I remember her face. Everything was so much more fun when you were a kid right? Every experience was magic, that's why I feel like we can learn so much just by watching a child run around.

Fanlala: If you could play any action hero (besides, "Aaron Stone," of course) who would it be?
Kelly: I would have to say Batman. Mark my words...I will play Batman.

Fanlala: You're the lead singer of a band, Capra...would you ever consider doing a musical?
Kelly: I have not really had too much interest in doing a musical. But I think that it would be a great challenge and a lot of fun. Maybe a movie musical. Like Grease or something.

Fanlala: Do you prefer filming television or movies, why?
Kelly: To be honest, I appreciate both. With TV, you are more on the go. Getting scripts the day before and trying to create magic on the spot with little time,which is a lot of fun. With movies, you have more time to prepare. You know what the whole script is, you have months to prepare, and you have a lot more time to shoot. I enjoy both processes.
