Harry Potter’s Latest Digital Project!

Harry Potter Pottermore J.K Rowling

The wait is finally over! J.K Rowling has officially unveiled her new digital Potter project which is a new free Harry Potter book series interactive website.

Set to launch in October 2011, the Pottermore site, developed in partnership with Sony, will feature the author’s newly written material about the series characters, locations and objects! Could you imagine? More information about Harry, Hermione, and Ron!

Pottermore will also feature new illustrations and interactive 'moments', which will let fans like you, navigate the Potter series, beginning with the first book, including reading new material and taking part in the story too, such as visiting Diagon Alley, getting sorted into a house, getting a wand, casting spells and mixing potions.  Some of the new material includes Rowling's descriptions of how she brought to life both the Sorting Hat and Ollivanders' experiences from her books for the first time, by revealing the questions asked by the Sorting Hat, and the magic behind the Wand Chooser. Now you’ll know how the young wizards and witches were placed into Hufflepuff or Gryffindor!

You can go to Pottermore.com and submit your email address to be contacted by the site upon the opening of registration on July 31 (the date anyone? Harry's birthday)! If you enter early and if you’re lucky, you might be chosen to be one of the first million people to gain early access to the website, and help with the final details. How cool is that?

Oh and in case you have been under a spell, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the eighth and final film in the series, releases next month on July 15.

Are you guys excited?
