Exclusive Interview: Jake T. Austin

Jake T. Austin is no stranger to acting, and we recently let you know what he’ll be up to once he’s finished with Wizards of Waverly Place.  Fanlala got to talk with Jake about his upcoming movies, his birthday this weekend, and his plans for the holidays!  Check it out below!
 
Fanlala: You just had your 17th birthday this weekend, what did you do for it?
 
Jake T. Austin: I hosted the 102.7 KIIS FM Jingle ball.  I did get to talk to Fanlala very briefly on the red carpet!
 
 
F: You’re starring as Huck Finn in the upcoming Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn, what kind of research did you have to do for your part?

JTA: I had to read the books, of course, and I just did research to make sure that I really knew the character that I was playing.


F: Filming for the movie took place in Bulgaria, what was it like out there?

JTA: It was a lot like California, there are a lot of valleys, but not as many big trees.  We toured through Europe, which is what made for some of the best moments on set.


F: Will fans see a different side to your acting in this movie?

JTA: It’s a much more serious role than what I play in Wizards of Waverly Place.  It deals with more realistic issues, but it’s still a family movie, and can be enjoyed by anyone.


F: Huck Finn is a classic tale, what books have you enjoyed reading in the past?

JTA: I’ve always loved Dr. Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham.  But I’ve also read Catcher in the Rye and A Clockwork Orange.


F: We know you’re also starring in New Year’s Eve, what was it like acting in a role with that many stars?

JTA: It made me a better actor.  I had to step up my game knowing I’d be working around all of those people.

F: Any plans for the holidays?

JTA: I’ll be heading back to New York, I’m excited to spend time with my friends and family.
