Camplified - we know it was a big deal this year, you know it was a big deal this year, and kids across the country couldn’t get enough of the hot new music that was brought to them by tons of new artists!
Kristina Lachaga is known as The Girl With The Big Pink Heart, and she’s been making music on stage for a long time now. We got to chat with her, and she told us what it was like touring with all of the awesome acts of Camplified! Check out our interview below!
Fanlala: Have you ever been to camp before? What was it like?
Kristina Lachaga: No, I haven’t. I did mini acting and dance summer camps, but nothing like the camps I went to on the tour. I was able to have the camp experience of my dreams this summer! Minus the bug bites…
F: If you could only bring three things to camp, what would they be?
KL: Hmmm…my band, my camera (so I could take lots of pictures and videos to share with my friends and fans), and lots of sunscreen because I got sunburned and looked like a lobster at one of my camps. Thank goodness Blush came to my rescue with sunscreen! And bug spray, if you’d let me bring four things!
F: Do you know how to make a campfire?
KL: In The Wild Thornberrys (yes, I am that old!), Eliza used her glasses to make a fire. The whole rubbing sticks together is so overrated.
F: What would you rather cook on the campfire, smores or hot dogs?
KL: Smores! Fun Fact: I’ve never tried a hot dog or a hamburger (:
F: Who have you enjoyed seeing at Camplified, and what really inspired you to do the tour?
KL: I saw Blush, Savannah Maddison, Karlee, Brandon and Savannah, DJ Mikey, Marlee, Arianna and the Rose, and popAlert. It was cool talking to the members of Blush because they opened for Justin Bieber and that is a dream of mine (fingers crossed!). Also, I worked with Karlee before. We performed in NYC together in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and at Carnegie Hall! I love performing and I wanted to go out on tour to share my music with my fans and get to meet them. Camplified was the perfect way to spend my summer!
F: Who is your biggest musical inspiration and why?
KL: I love Demi Lovato! Watching her in Camp Rock inspired me to write my own songs and transition into the pop music world. (Hmmm…Camp Rock? Camplified? Looks to me like we have a lot in common!)
F: What’s it like trying to balance being a normal teenager and going on tour?
KL: I actually think it’s really easy. This is my job and I love it. I know I am missing spending time with my friends, but when I get back home I get to share my experiences with them and my family. They really support me and know I’m doing what I love so they learn to understand my jam packed schedule! When I was on tour with the Broadway Musical “Gypsy” from 2007-2008, I had to balance school with the show. It’s like having two jobs –I’m used to it now!
F: Who is your favorite boy band and why?
KL: ONE DIRECTION. I love the vibe they have as a group –they seem to be really great friends, so watching them interact on stage is so much fun. Harry’s voice is amazing! Hi Harry!
I’ve also worked with Big Time Rush! I was in their music video for ‘Famous’ and they are super sweet guys. My favorite is Kendall because guess what! We share the same birthday: November 2nd. I would love to work with the boys again!
F: Are you working on any new music at the moment?
KL: Yes, I am! I have a lot of songs that I can’t wait to go into the studio to record. My two singles “Won’t Wait Forever” and “No Doubt” are going to be hitting iTunes very soon, so be on the look out for that (: While you’re waiting, you can check out sneak previews of my original songs “Won’t Wait Forever” and “No Doubt” here:
F: If you didn't do the Camplified tour, what would you be doing this Summer?
KL: I went to the Big Time Rush and Cody Simpson Concert. I met Cody and his sister Alli! Cody was on the 2010 Camplified Tour, so I talked with him about his experience on the tour. He’s such a sweet guy! I’m going to continue writing more songs and hopefully go the beach! That’s what the summer is for: the beach and music!
