EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Camplified Artist Blush

The Pan-Asian band Blush got their start in the east, but they quickly became known worldwide to fans across the globe.  Now the five girls who make up blush have come to the US to perform for eager, music loving teens across the nation.  They’re excited to bring their music to the states through Camplified!

We got to chat with Blush about their camping experiences, and what it was like forming their band.  See what they had to say below. 

Fanlala: Have you ever been to camp, or gone camping before? If so, what was it like?

Victoria: I went camping for my Duke of Edinburgh Award when I was in High School in Hong Kong, and I returned home with 112 mosquito bites.. Yes I counted them one by one!

Angeli: I have never attended a camp and only seen camps in Disney and other movies.  

Nacho: Never! I have never attended a summer camp.

Alisha: I have attended camps but not summer camps.

F: If you could only bring three things to camp, what would they be?

V: Mosquito Spray, a jacket to keep me warm as I’m always cold, and a Camera

A: Jacket to keep me warm, Swimsuit, my Diary

J: Mosquito spray, Sunhat, and grapefruit (I LOVE grapefruit!)

N: iPhone, iPad, and a charger

F: Do you know how to make a campfire?

V: Yes - with matches! ;-)

A: heck no

J: I don’t know.

N: Yes I think I could make a fire.

F: What would you rather cook on the campfire, smores or hot dogs?

V: S’MORES!!!!!

A: hotdogs

N: S’mores

J: S’mores

Alisha: That is a hard question – I like both, but if I have to choose one, I would choose S’mores.

F: Who are you excited to see perform at Camplified and what inspired you to do the tour?

B: We are really excited to see everyone perform as this will be the first time for us to meet all the artists on the tour! It’s going to be a great show!  The kids are a major inspiration for Blush to perform anytime anywhere, so of course we wanted to be involved with Camplified, have a great time with the kids and hope to inspire them in some way too.

F: How long have you know each other, and how long have you performed together?

B: Blush was formed as part of the search for the first Pan-Asian girl group during the summer of 2010. We all first met September 2010 in Hong Kong as part of the audition process where we all lived and worked together. Actually, it was kind of like a summer camp. 5 girls from each country were invited to Hong Kong. We performed every week, and one girl from each country would then be sent home. We became Blush as the final 5 were selected Nov 29, 2010. So we’ve been together for a year and a half now.

F: What do you think about the comparisons of Blush to The Spice Girls?

B: It’s a real compliment and a privilege to even be mentioned or compared with the Spice Girls. They are one of the most successful girl bands ever. We just hope that we can also bring in our cultural elements, some Blush spice like the Spice Girls did with their personalities.

F: If you could go open up for any artist in the world right now who would it be?

B: 1D would be our first choice, but we have many others that we’d love to open for.  Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Pink, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Hot Chelle Rae, The Wanted, OneRepublic, and Bruno Mars.
