Camplified is one of the loudest concerts to ever hit summer camps, and we’ve got the scoop on all of the artists that will be touring!
3union is a band of three brothers, Shaun, Brandon, and Ryan Boyd who bring their unique style of electronic, alternative, and rock sounds to the stage. We had a blast interviewing 3union. Check out what they had to tell us below!
Fanlala: Have you ever been to camp before? If so, what was it like?
Ryan: Yes, we have. We’ve all been to camp before - mainly church camps. I don’t remember much about them. I remember seeing Brandon cry a lot.
Brandon: I missed mom and dad! Shaun and Ryan had a blast, though.
Shaun: I had a great time at camps. We’ve also been counselors before, so we’ve been on the other side as well
F: If you could only bring three things to camp, what would they be?
Ryan: Oh man, that’s a good question. Miley Cyrus, a flamethrower, and my cat Frodo... yeah thats good.
Brandon: Oh goodness, a toothbrush, a jar of pickles (I don’t like pickles, I’d just bring them to hit people with,) and DEFINTELY BUG SPRAY my teddy bear.
Shaun: I would bring my computer, my cell phone, an internet card for wireless internet.
F: Do you know how to make a campfire?
3u: With a flamethrower!
F: What would you rather cook on the campfire, smores or hot dogs?
Shaun: Yes.
Brandon: S’mores, for sure.
Ryan: Hot s’mores... s’more dogs... whatever you call hot dogs and s’mores put together!
F: Who are you excited to see perform at Camplified and what inspired you to do the tour?
3u: The people were excited to see are DJ Mikey, and Payton Rae.
The ones who inspired us are Sam and Nate, they did it last year. They told us “Hey, you guys should try out for this!” We talked with Camplified. They said you should come on and play with us for a little bit. The way we got on was that we won the Reverb Nation Contest. We love camps, we love playing at camps, so it’s really a win/win for us!
F: Who is your favorite alternative rock artist?
Brandon: It’s between two: Relient K and the Lostprophets
Ryan: It varies from here and there. Right now, I’m listening to a lot of Marianas Trench.
Shaun: I’ll go with Forever the Sickest Kids, they’re good.
F: What brought you guys together in 2008 to perform together?
3u: We were destined to be a band from birth. Our mom had a dream to have a family band. So around 2004, we formed just that. Our dad played the keys and mom played the electric guitar. We did not sing at all, actually. Brandon was on bass, Ryan was on the electric guitar, and Shaun was on drums. We got to play on 'America’s Got Talent.' We were playing in front of Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff. They said that we as brothers performed like the Jonas Brothers, and from then we wanted to form a band!
F: Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
3u: Our biggest inspirations are definitely our parents and God.
F: Of the three of you, who has the best hair?
Shaun: Ryan
Brandon: Agrees
Ryan: Miley Cyrus!
F: What other passion do you like to do together besides music?
Shaun: I’m really into art and film. I really like doing film editing, and I like to do sound recording, music engineering, things like that.
Brandon: I really love hanging out with people, it’s always a lot of fun. I love to read, it’s one of my favorite things in the world. I also really like playing video games - it’s not a passion, but it’s a fun way to pass the time!
Ryan: I, too, enjoy hanging out with people, meeting new people. It’s always fun doing ridiculous activities, skydiving, cliff diving. I’ve also gotta say video games, Duck Hunt... Zelda. They’re just fun.
Of course, 3union wrapped their interview by saying “We wanna give a shout out to all of our fans, and to people who have been encouraging us. Thank you for believing, without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!”
