This weekend, IM5 and Bella Thorne performed a live, FREE show at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles. The music was loud and the crowd was huge! It was a night that we’ll never forget, and the best part? We got to chat with all of the performers before the show!
Van Jess is a female duo hailing from Nigeria. Ivana and Jessica have such a unique sound that you won’t find anywhere else. They totally lit up the stage during their performance at CityWalk. What did they have to tell us?
Fanlala: What are you impressions of the Los Angeles area, how does it compare to Nigeria?
Van Jess: It’s so fun, you know? It’s so big, there’s just so much to do. It’s so alive.
F: You guys are major YouTube sensations, starting your career off online. What is it like doing a live performance at CityWalk?
VJ: It’s exciting and scary, you know? Because people are so used to us doing covers, and now we’re just doing our own original music. We’re just hoping that everyone likes our performance. It’s a little scary, but we’re definitely up to the challenge!
F: Wellington is another big name band here who are huge on YouTube. Have you guys shared tips and experiences with your music?
VJ: We actually just met them, they’re backstage. But yeah, we’ve spoken to them, and they’re an amazing group to talk with. We’re excited to be performing on the same set as them.
F: Are there any other bands that you’d like to perform with for future shows?
VJ: Oh man, definitely Frank Ocean. He’s an amazing artist, amazing songwriter. Drake would be cool too, we’re actually doing a mashup of Frank Ocean and Drake right now.
F: What do you have lined up for your fans in the future?
VJ: We have a lot more original music coming out, and definitely keep your eyes open for more covers!
