Season 10 of ‘American Idol’ brought us some amazing singers, including country singer Scotty McCreery. But one artist that REALLY stands out with us is Casey Abrams. His latest album debuted this week, and you can download it now on iTunes!
We got to chat with the finalist about his post-‘Idol’ career, and what he’s been working on along with his self-titled album.
Fanlala: How much time did you spend in between your time on ‘Idol’ and beginning your debut album?
Casey Abrams: After Idol I went on the tour, and began writing songs immediately. I first stepped in Kensaltown studios to start recording in January of this year
F: You’re collaborating with fellow ‘Idol’ contestant Haley Reinhart on your upcoming album, have you kept in touch with any other of your fellow contestants?
CA: Yes! I've been chillin' with Stefano. Every time James Durbin is in town I see him, same with Naima.
F: We know that you’re able to play 11 instruments right now, what is the first one that you really started playing, and are there others that you want to learn?
CA: The first instrument I probably ever played was the piano. I took lessons, but I usually didn't read the music, I would play by ear. An instrument that I want to learn to play is the sarod, which is a fretless instrument from India. I also want to learn the bassoon and the tuba.
F: With your first album almost on store shelves, what plans do you have to continue your music career? Any tours, maybe?
CA: This summer I will be popping up all over the country! I'll let you know about some tour dates soon!
F: Were you able to follow any of the most recent season of ‘American Idol?’
CA: Yes, but our season was better! ;)
He’s achieving his dreams at what seems like more than one step at a time. We’re so excited for Casey, and we can’t wait to see what he brings us in the future! You can check out his latest single “Get Out” below, and don't forget to pick up your copy of his album, out now!
