Back in March, everyone was getting excited for ‘The Hunger Games,’ The Thirst Project, and DoSomething.org wanted everyone to get active to prevent hunger in less fortunate nations with their Water Games, Walk For Africa campaign.
Over 23,000 young participants helped raise money to build a well in Nkondolo, Swaziland. This single well will help provide over 1,000 citizens with the water they need to stay hydrated and to keep their food supply well-stocked. Set atop a mountain, high above the nearest stream, it was very difficult to haul water back up from the stream. With this new well, the people will be able to run things much more efficiently.
The well will also improve the health of the villagers by providing cleaner drinking water that reduces the chances of contracting water-related illnesses. The people of Nkondolo are very grateful, and if you participated in the campaign, they have you to thank.
We love the fact that there are so many kind-hearted people who took part in this cause. What an amazing act!
